I'm not even going to lie but I never really understood why we circumcise our men. Everyone I knew thought it was disgusting for a man not to be cut but I (the woman who swears she's having a natural, home birth) still thought it was unnatural to cut the "excess" skin. I mean sure, I understand the act under religious purposes but what if your religion does not require it? "What is wrong with our society", I thought to myself . It wasn't until I was an older woman, I met a man who was clearly uncircumcised . The embarrassing part? It took me months to realize something was different about his penis. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe it has something to do with his size. Then one day, after some great sex, I said:
"Babe. Random question. You're not circumcised?"
He laughed hysterically!
"I knew it! I knew it!...I just didn't know it!"
He continued to laugh...hysterically.
"Okay babe. Stop laughing."
...he continued...to laugh...hysterically...
Then I really didn't get it. This man was a very clean man. When I say clean I mean clean! His hygiene was superb and his knack for tidiness was also a 10. If it's all about hygiene then shucks men wash your d*&$ extra good. Pull the skin back and handle business. Big deal. Is it just that yall don't feel like it? And plus, it was soo cute. I'm not even going to try and lie (but revealing too much is my middle name). It was soo cute...like he was trying to hide from me....awwws...
Anyhow, I would never, never, ever do this to my son. I think I will love him with his "extra" skin...and Mommy and Daddy will show you how to properly wash yourself.
Any other confused women out there? Does it have something to do with STD's? Religion? Hygiene? Aesthetics?
